Marijuana is a controlled substance treated just like Cocaine and Heroin in the federal law system. These laws are prehistoric, due to the fact Marijuana is a non-addictive drug, and causes 0 deaths a year. I mean I guess you could die if you tried to inject Hash Oil (A concentrate of marijuana, consisting of 90% THC.) into your veins. Not by overdose the substance is very thick and sticky it would most likely clog blood flow. Not to mention how many families and people die of alcohol addiction, people who die while drunk driving. Even while under the influence of marijuana from my personal observations, drivers tend to be more cautious, drive slower, and stop at green lights. It is quite comical to be in the passenger seat of somebody who is stoned. Though I'm not recommending people to drive under the influence, you might end up in a low speed wreck. First time marijuana users should definitely not drive under the influence. The government is arresting many of our citizens and giving power to Mexican drug lords with its war on drugs. These are victimless crimes. If the police are supposed to protect and serve the community, why are we having such issues between law enforcement and pedestrians?
Marijuana,
or also known scientifically as Cannabis Sativa. Is used to produce many things
such as; lotions, shampoo, rope, paper, clothing, etc. The United States alone can benefit in the
agriculture of cannabis. Taxing the plants, medical buds, recreational buds,
the products it produces. Cannabis is a giant field of opportunity and business
we are ignoring. Why would we ignore
this? Since the fact our country is in debt. Besides the tax, Americans love to
smoke, I watch teenagers who want to smoke all the time just because it is fascinating.
I mean they see people do smoke tricks, then ask to hit the cigarette. Tobacco is
highly addictive, kills 100’s of thousands, yet is legal to purchase by the age
of 18. Marijuana is a great smoking alternative. You’re going to smoke less anyways because you’re
going to get high. Marijuana and the fight for legalization are growing. Law enforcement
and world listen.
Just
recently I watched a J-Cole music video called “crooked smile” with a message
at the end saying please reconsider your war on drugs. This is what inspired me
to write this. In the video a little girl was shot and killed, during a police
raid. The video was in recognition of Aiyana Stanley-Jones. A 7 year-old girl
who was shot and killed during a drug raid in Detroit Michigan. You can watch the video at the bottom of this
blog. Along with that I read an article about a drug sting in a California high
school. In Riverside county, California a police officer infiltrated a local
high school befriended an autistic special needs student, sending over 60 text
messages asking him to buy him pot. In the attempt to keep his new friend the
kid bought a half of a joint off a homeless guy. He was then arrested in his
class room along with the 21 others. They arrestees were held 48 hours in
juvenile detention; some had to sleep on the floor using toilet paper as
pillows. When the police force is targeting the youth, over marijuana something
has to change! World Listen, this is getting out of hand.
My anger is
still flowing after writing that last argument. Let me end with a logical
appeal to reconsider the war on drugs. Marijuana is a rapidly growing business
in the United States. That’s more job opportunities for our citizens. Marijuana
agriculture is something I would like to pursue, if it ever becomes legal. I am
not the only one. I want the American dream just like anyone else. I want our
freedom stop oppressing us from cannabis for no logical reasons. Open your eyes
and world pay attention.
